Athens Flying Week 2022
The annual airshow Athens Flying Week took place in 17 & 18/09 at the Tanagra air base near Athens. Except the show in the skies, the audience had the opportunity to see from close a variety of planes and helicopters in static display next to the runway. The airshow began with parachuting drop and anemoplane exhibition followed by helicopters of the Hellenic Navy (ΑΒ 212 & SH-70) and Army (AH-64 Apache, Chinook & Kiowa). The second part of the show was dedicated in modern fighter aircrafts. Hellenic Air Force (H.A.F.) participated with all types of its aircrafts, including F-4 Phantom, Mirage 2000-5, f-16 Block 52 (Zeus Demo Team) as well as the new Rafale.
Foreign participants
Except from the Hellenic Air Force, air forces of other countries also participated. More specifically, Swiss Air Force participated with a F-18 Hornet, Saudi Arabia air force with an special decorated F-15 Eagle, Polish Air Force with PZL-130 Orlik squadron, Jordan with an Extra 330LX squadron, and France (Armée de l’air et de l’espace) with Rafale.
Highlight of the airshow was the demostration of a recently renovated Spitfire which after its solo display made a pass above Tanagra Air Force base accompanied by a Rafale and a A-320 Neo of Aegean Airways.
